Why we do skip the Black Friday discount madness

Black Friday” is the day after Thanksgiving and this year falls on the 26th of November. The shopping marathon actually originates from America. It is considered one of the largest internationally widespread shopping events with discounts of up to 70%. These extreme discounts give an enormous boost to consumption. Shoppers are encouraged to buy far more than they actually need. According to a market survey by blackfriday GmbH, retailers estimate that this year each customer in Germany will spend an average of 300,- € during the Black Friday sales promotion. This marketing measure is neither sustainable nor environmentally friendly. It produces huge amounts of packaging waste and consumes enormous amounts of CO2 in the transport of the goods.

We stand by our principles and will not take part in this. We will do without discounts this Friday. You will get them another time, or by signing up for our newsletter. Of course, you can use the price promotions of the day to buy something you've wanted for a long time. But 3 extra T-shirts because they're so cheap, which then languish in the cupboard and end up in the bin? That doesn't have to be the case. We want our customers to fall in love with our styles, not be able to get them out of their heads and then order them and wear them with joy.

We at ragwear know that there are many possibilities for sustainable consumption and a fair treatment of nature. Every contribution counts, and you too can help make the world a better place. For example, buy consciously and only what you really need. Buy quality instead of quantity.

We are looking forward to your opinion @ragwear and #nolikeforblackfriday.
