At ragwear, we are proud to be able to offer items made from a very special material in this year's summer collection: REPREVE®. This innovative material is made from recycled plastic bottles and allows us to offer fashion that not only looks good, but also makes a positive contribution to the environment.
How is REPREVE® made?
• Recycled bottles and post-industrial waste are collected around the world.
• The waste is crushed, ground, washed and flaked to remove impurities.
• The waste flakes are melted and processed into high quality resin.
• The resin is melted into a liquid polymer and extruded into a fibre. It is then spun and processed into yarn.
The advantages of REPREVE®
In Germany alone, around 17 billion plastic bottles are consumed every year. If a plastic bottle is carelessly thrown away, it can take up to 450 years for it to decompose into tiny pieces.
REPREVE® helps to ensure that some of this plastic waste is recycled and does not end up in the environment, where it could cause harm to humans and animals. In addition, recycling conserves natural resources and less crude oil is required for plastic production. The recycling process also saves energy and reduces water consumption.
Another advantage of REPREVE® is its longevity and durability. Garments made from this material last a long time and wear out less quickly. This reduces the need for new garments and conserves resources.
The fabric is also very comfortable to wear. The fabric feels soft and pleasant on the skin, offers good breathability and is easy to care for. Our customers can therefore not only enjoy environmentally friendly fashion, but also garments that are comfortable to wear and last a long time.
