How to Keep Your ragwear Jacket Looking Great
Less is more - Especially When Washing
The Care Label Is Your Best Friend
Before you do anything, take a look inside your jacket. The care label gives you valuable information: What materials were used? What’s the recommended washing temperature? Is tumble drying allowed? These details help you avoid mistakes – and protect your jacket in the long run.
Small Stains? No Stress!
If there’s just a small mark, all you usually need is a gentle detergent, a soft brush, and a little patience. Gently rub the affected area – and you’re done! This way, you can often avoid washing the whole jacket.
Before Washing: Prep Is Everything
Before tossing your jacket in the machine:
- Close all zippers, buttons, and Velcro – this protects the fabric.
- Turn it inside out – this helps preserve prints, labels, and other details.
- If you have a laundry bag: use it. It’s gentler on the fibres – and helps protect the environment from microplastics.
Wash Gently – and Dry Properly
Use a delicate or gentle cycle at no more than 30 °C. Skip the bleach and definitely avoid fabric softeners – they clog the pores of breathable materials and can affect performance. After washing:
- Hang your jacket up to air dry.
- Avoid direct sunlight or heat from radiators.
- Once it’s dry, give it a good shake – this helps restore the fibres.
