World Vegan Day

Do you know how many vegans there are in Germany? Almost 1 million, according to surveys by the Statista statistics database. Today is World Vegan Day. A good reason to take a closer look at veganism: No plastic, vegan food, flight shaming: if you want to do something to stop climate change, start with yourself, says climate activist Greta Thunberg. Because yes, being vegan promotes climate protection. As a result, not only animal rights activists but also climate researchers are pushing to avoid meat: “A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth,” as Oxford professor Joseph Poore told the Guardian newspaper.

Being vegan is also good for your health: Eliminating animal products can reduce the risk of many of our most common diseases and causes of death – including heart attacks, strokes, cancer, diabetes and obesity. Apart from that, a lot of animal suffering is of course spared. For many people, this is the number one reason for becoming a vegan.

At the same time, World Vegan Day also heralds “World Vegan Month” in November each year. A good opportunity to try out veganism for a month, right? The animal protection organization PETA’s guide to start becoming a vegan provides you with tips and tricks for 30 days that will make your start easier. Take us on your journey with #ragweargoesvegan! Since 2015, ragwear has also been certified as “PETA-Approved Vegan” and thus 100 percent vegan and free of animal suffering - the first in vegan streetwear.

What is vegan clothing? Of course, leather, wool, fur, silk, felt and down are not used in vegan clothing because they come from animals; ragwear also avoids details such as horn buttons and beeswax jacket impregnation. Many animal materials are not visible at first glance: There are glues and dyes of animal origin. As a vegan fashion brand, these must also be avoided. So you can see: Recognising completely vegan clothing is difficult. So it’s a good thing that there is a PETA seal!

At the end of November we have a cool vegan surprise for you here on our blog. Stay tuned!
